4 day Inca Trail trek Peru
♦ Vibrant & colourful Cusco ♦ Magnificent Machu Picchu ♦ Inca history
The most famous 4 day trek to Machu Picchu
The Inca Trail, the most famous trek in South America, and a ‘must do’ for any walker. Peru’s Inca Trail offers the greatest combination of history and scenery to be found on any walking adventure anywhere in the world. Winding from the Urubamba River through high mountains, rain forest, deep jungle territory, inca ruins and to the magnificent lost city of Machu Picchu.
Travel with us and participate in one of the most coveted walks on Earth the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu! This holidays provides all the essentials for a successful venture from Lima to Cusco and Machu Picchu, amongst the magnificent ruins and mighty mountains. We tour the great city, be amazed by the incredible Inaic walls, and the fabulous architecture of the Spanish cathedrals and palaces.
We will enjoy a guided tour of the ruins to experience it fully and ascend the mountain featured in all photographs, Huyana Picchu before returning to Cusco on the train savouring further sublime sights in the heart of the inca world.
This classic Inca Trail holiday offers a variety of walking conditions. The majority of the walking is on well-trodden paths, including the sections of inca highways which are paved slabs in places. There are a couple of days that can be tougher, but generally the walking is straightforward and not enduring or commiting. We have given 4 nights at altitude of above 3,000m / 10,000 feet before we begin any walking, along with an easy first day’s walk which should provide excellent acclimitisation for the group. You will need to ensure that you have prepared physically for the trail and are comfortable with walking for approximately 5-6 hours each day including an occasional longer day and for several continual days. There will be some longer ascents/descents on some days with Inca built steps on some sections. The holiday should be within the abilities of a fit and active walker.
